How to access cell from same row in Repeater Table

    Hi All,

I have a table with three columns: A,B

Column A is a dropdown connected to a datasource.

Once user selects a value I want to show another field of that same datasource in column B.

For that I basically set the value to a field from the datasource and set a filter to the field from column A.

It seems to work fine with the first row but adding new rows simply overwrites all column B entries with the corresponding from the last row.

How can I tell Infopath to always filter by the column A from the same row ?

Here is my value definition for column B:

    COMPANY_CONTRACT_NAME[CONTRACT_NUMBER = ContractNumber]

ContractNumber is column A. The other fields are from the datasource.

    thanks,

    Mike

Want to attach a copy of your form under the Options tab in a reply? That may help me understand your question better.

    Thanks for your reply.

The form is actually pretty big and all data comes from Web Services so I think attaching the form would not help.

Let me try to describe it in a different way:

Let's say you have a repeating table:

    Col1   Col2

    A
    B

Both Columns are connected to a data source that has the following content

    F1    F2

    A     a
    B     b
    C     c

Col1 is a dropdown. In my example I select A in row 1 and B in row 2.
Col2 is a read only text field. I want to show the corresponding value coming from the datasource.
So in my example Col2 for row one would show 'a' and Col2 for row 2 would show 'b'.

Please let me know if that makes better sense. Otherwise I will try to manipulate the application to
    work without all datasources somehow.

So what I am struggling with is the formula behind Col2 that pulls the correct value out of the datasource.
Somehow my logic shows always the latest entry from the last row. In my case it looks like this :

     Col1    Col2
    A         b
    B         B

    Thanks,

    Mike

Are you using a rule to set Col2? What are you setting Col2 to? Do you have a filter on the XPath? I don't need to be able to preview your form, so it having data connections doesn't really matter - I just need to look at it in design mode.

Yes I have the following formula on Col2 for Default Value:

    COMPANY_CONTRACT_NAME[CONTRACT_NUMBER = ContractNumber]

where COMPANY_CONTRACT_NAME iand CONTRACT_NUMBER comes from databasource

and ContractNumber is the value of Col1

    thanks so much

    thanks for helping.

I figured it out by switching to rule from default value.
