    Printing Problems (Portrait VS Landscape)

    I have designed and distributed a Infopath Form that was set up originally to print in Landscape. The form worked fine for a period of time, but now all of a sudden, the form will only print in landscape, even though the form Page Setup still says that it is supposed to print in Landscape (both in design and form view).

    Any suggestions?

    This sounds really weird - you cannot change the print orientation even in the print dialog?

    The form is still setup to print in landscape in the print dialog, but still the document both previews and prints in portrait.

    Weird is right.

    Hey,

    Look in the manifest for that particular view and see what the the following view width states:

    <xsf:property name="viewWidth" type="string" value="8.5in"></xsf:property>

    Sometimes, I have seen values get "stuck" in the designer that when changed manually in the manifest and recompiled - it fixed the problem.

    Hope that helps,
    Mary

    Hey,

    When you have the InfoPath form open in Designer, select File/Extract Form Files. This will extract all the files that make up the XSN form template.

    Look for a file that you extracted called manifest.xsf......and open that file in Notepad. The line with the <xsf:property name=viewWith....> will be located under the:
    <xsf:package>
    <xsf:files>
    <xsf:file name="view1.xsl"> (where the view1.xsl is the name of your view)

    Edit the value property from 11in to 8.5in if necessary in Notepad and save the file.
    Open the manifest.xsl file again in designer (ie...right click in Windows Explorer and select design)....this will bring up your form. Save the form as an FormName.xsn file (this recompiles the solution). Then see if it makes a difference.

    Hope that helps,
    Mary

    Re: Printing Problems (Portrait VS Landscape)

    I have had the same problem at work. Anyone who wants to print a landscape form from InfoPath 2003 is unable to if they have IE 7 installed, no matter what settings are selected it will default to portrait.

    I think it was in this forum that somebody said uninstalling IE 7 fixes this problem. From what ive read thats because InfoPath gets its User Interface/Printing Engine from IE 7. Turns out it works very well but i would really like to find a proper cure for this without having to uninstall IE 7.

    Has anybody found a way to solve this? Please help

     For anyone else having the issue with Infopath not printing in landscape even if you have it defined in a view, here is the path form MS

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931368

     I downloaded the patch from this site and it worked to correct the issue.
