How to update existing record in access via infopath submit

    Hi,

    Need some advise.

I have fields in infopath form that binds to the access database.
Managed to retrieve to use the drop down list box to retrieve the data from the access and populate in the form.

When user make changes to the field data in the form and click submit, instead of updating the existing record somehow it added as a new record.
The drop down list box is binded to the primary key - ID in the database.

How can update the record by using the ID unique key instead of adding as record in access database?

In a form that is connected to a database, you can use a query to get back the record you wish to update. Your main data source has query fields - provide them on the form so that the user can narrow down their selection. Then query the data base, and the user can modify the data fields values and submit to update.

Here are some links that may help you. Some are from older versions of InfoPath, but the general ideas are the same.

    - Rule #1 on your Submit button: - Submit the form to your SQL Server - Rule #2 on your Submit button: - Add a condition that checks to see if your "query field" is blank. Then add the Action: "Set a field's value" where you set the query field value to the same data field. (In my sample, I have the ShipperID field as the query field. So my condition checks to see if the ShipperID queryField is blank and if so, sets the value of this field to the ShipperID dataField which is now present since we submitted to SQL.) - Rule #3 on your Submit button: - Submit using your e-mail adapter In my testing, I can now complete the following without error: - Double-click the XSN - Add a new record - Click my Submit button (it contains the 3 rules noted above) - Open the form from my e-mail - Modify the displayed record - Click the submit button again Regards.. http://www.traininginsholinganallur.in/primavera-training-in-chennai.html http://www.traininginsholinganallur.in/big-data-analytics-training-in-chennai.html http://www.traininginsholinganallur.in/qtp-training-in-chennai.html
