 Is there a no code solution to getting around the save conflict error? I would like to kick off a workflow on a button click, which I've done by using a field change and submitting data. I've been having users exit the form after the workflow gets kicked off, due to necessity, however, it would be really nice if they could sometimes stay in the form to do other stuff. I'm using 2010 browser enabled forms. Thanks!

Hello Ghoztrider,

When you say save conflict error I'm not clear on the actions of your form. If this I a 2010 browser form the best solution may be to:

1. Disable the ribbon
2. Use buttons for Save/Submit/Close that use custom rules not the default submits
3. Set up a submit data connection to your library
4. Create a rule on the button to submit to the library

If the above does not solve your issues, kindly send more details and I can provide a more detailed response to your issue.

 If I design a button to submit the current data on the form to the server, but I do not place a rule that exits the form after, I get the notorious message: "your changes conflict with those made concurrently by another user" if I go to save again. I understand why it works this way, however, I most always use two buttons on my forms (Save and Exit, and Exit). The end result I'm trying to get is kicking off workflows without the user having to get out of the form after. When they are ready to exit the form if they choose Save & Exit they'll get the error, if they choose Exit , they won't. It's a crap shoot!!
 Hopefully I've explained it a little better  :)

I never display the ribbons in my forms due to the fact that I usually have a few rules behind the custom save button..
