    InfoPath pop-up message

Hi all, I am looking for a way to have a pop-up message appear to notify the user when a value falls below zero. Is there a way to do this through rules? I am with a large corporation that does not allow me to code in the background.

Hi - this would have to be a filler form to display a dialog box - is that the case here? Or do your users fill out the form in a browser?

If filler, on the field that you are concerned about, add a rule with the condition that the field is less than 0, then display a message - you can enter whatever text you need. No code required.

The form will be viewed in a browser. The user enters a number into one field, clicks a few buttons, and when the number field falls below 0 I need them to know they need to check their work.

Since we don't have the option of using message boxes in browser forms, you could use a calculated value for this - add a calculated value to the form with some text in it for the warning you wish to display, and conditionally format it to hide if the number field is >= 0.

The condition will depend on your unique form logic. So, in the original thread, the poster wanted to display a message if a field had a specific value. You need to determine what the conditions are in your form wherein you'll display a message and set the conditional formatting on the calculated value based on that.

Thanks for your response Hilary.. In my Browser form, apart "Submit" button, I have other normal buttons for next two level approvers. Each approver can have the rights to edit the form. but some time the approvers forget to save the form. so that, I just want to display "Alert Message" about to "Save" a form before click that button Is it possible? I used to read your posts for past two years, Since you are an expert in InfoPath.. I want your suggestion. Thanks again....

Sure - you probably need a way to tell if they have clicked the button. I'd probably use a secondary XML for this, have a node in it called SaveMessage with a value of "Please be sure to save your work" and on the button click clear the message. See attached sample, download locally, right click and select design to open in design mode.

    Re: InfoPath pop-up message

Thanks a Lot.. I am already displaying a Plain Text "Click Save Before Submit" above the button.. as a label, its always there.. Though the message is displaying, still some of the user forget to save their changes in the form. So, they are expecting "Alert Message" like InfoPath Filler form (Show a Message option is there) Is there any possibility to display an "Alert" or "Show a Message" ? Thanks Again...
