Formatting a text field that contains numbers with a comma in the thousands place

I have a field in an InfoPath form that is writing to a text field in a SharePoint 2010 list.  I have the field setup up to accept numbers with the following formula to force the behavior needed:  round((shares * price) * 100) / 100

My question is how do a get the result to include a comma in the normal thousands place?  Can this be done in InfoPath?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

In order to get the result to include a comma at the thousands place you need to make changes to the Text Box Properties of that Field.

    Please follow these steps:

Select the Text box of the Field on the Form--> Right click on it and Select Text Box Properties --> On the Text Box Properties dialog box select Data --> For the 'Data Type' click on the Drop-down and select the Whole Number (Integer) --> Then Click on Format button next to it --> A dialog box appears. Under the 'Format' section select Currency Symbol --> Under 'Other Options', check the box that says "Use a digit grouping symbol"(,) --> Click OK twice to close all the dialog boxes.

Hope this helps. Please, let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Prachi, thank you for the response. I was hoping to not have to update the field type at this point and was looking for a formula/function-based solution. The project launched, so I will need to wait until it's completed before I can make modifications for the next round. Thanks again for your response!!
