Set Rule when Date/Time field is Invalid

I am hoping this has a simple solution that I am missing!

My users think that the date/time field in InfoPath is confusing when they are entering a time.  (Insert *rolling eyes* here.)  To "help" them, I have created a date field, and two drop-downs for the time and minutes.  I then concatenate the values into a date/time field.  So far, so good!

If the date/time field is showing on the form, I can see when it is invalid (red dash lines around it).  However, this field won't be visible to the user.  Is there a way to make sure this field is valid before the user submits?  ARGH!

I'd put a screenshot of what I am talking about in here, but I can't figure out how to do it.  =(

    THANKS in advance!

    Hello klik,

As an idea you could use validation rules on the fields the user enters the hours and minutes into. This would then give more information to the user about what information they need to change on their entry. Matching patterns or less than may be what you want in your conditions for the validations.

If you send your for along I may be able to give you further guidance for the formatting.

    Best,
    Bre
