 I have a boy's list A, B, C and a girl's list a, b, c, both are in tables. if they want to pick a friend, if they pick up from a different list, no problem. in boy's table, A has a friend's field as dropdown list, with the data list as a,b,c to choose from.

But, if boy can only choose boy as friend, then the drop down's data list I want to make A, B, C available to choose, but that is my problem, what it only show is A, the only choice, because the repeated data and the data source is the same list, so the full list of A, B, C would not show up. \

How can I do that??

Hi - I'm a little confused. Can you attach a sample or some screenshots that might clarify? You can attach a file under the Options tab in a reply.

  See the boys list has entry of A,B, C. Name list, which is outside of the table can see the full list of the boys, but the friend entry pull down only display itself. I want the friend dropdown to display all the boys name, so A can make friend with B, or C. How can I make the friend field's drop down to display the full list? thanks. Oh, I see - yes, this is something kind of hard to do in InfoPath. It can be done by manually modifying the view to make the XPath to the repeating group not relative, but that is the only way I know how to make it behave as you want. Under the publish category you can select export form files which will allow you to open the view with a text editor so you can see the XSL that IP is using.

Here is a sample, I also added a filter so you can't pick the item entered in the first column. Save the form locally, right click and select Design to preview it. Save it as source files and take a look at the view file in a text editor - I modified line 284 & line 292 to move up the tree before selecting the field I wanted to use in the dropdown.
