Infopath 2013, Change view on Submit

    Hi all,

I've been having difficulty getting my survey to change view after submission.

I have two views, one is the survey itself with a submit button, the other is a 'Thank you for submitting your survey page'.

Once the user has completed the survey and pressed submit I want the view to switch.

    This is my current setup:

I have a Boolean, true/false field on my survey page. Once the users presses submit this is set to true which should then trigger a rule in my 'form load' which should switch the view, in reality the survey view is just reloaded instead of the view changing to the 'Thank you' view.

What am I missing? This seems like it should work.

Note: I've also tried setting my thank you page as the default page, and then having a rule in 'form load' to switch to the survey page if my Boolean is false, however I cannot get it to switch back to the thank you page after form submission.

    Thank you,

    Luke

Hi- I think you need some rules on your button to switch the view. Form Load rules run when the form is opened - so on submit, your form is not loading. In your form's submit options, you could choose to use rules, and have switching the view being one of those rules. Or, you could just use a regular button (not a submit button) and include a view switch in your rules.

    Hi Hilary,

I've tried adding view switching on the button but it will never change to view2, instead it will reload view1.

I've tried using a regular button and removing the submit button but I can't publish the form because there's no real 'submit button'.

     Hi again,

I've managed to get round the issue by the following:

    • Create a normal button and add the view switch and then data submission rules to it.
    • Create a submit button and add the data submission to it, but remove it from the page so its non-clickable. (it seems InfoPath requires a submit button)

Thank you for the help :)

    Hi Hilary,

    I've just encountered another error.

Basically because the button I use to submit the data is no longer a 'submit' button it doesn't do any validation to check if all the required fields have been answered.

This means if people miss out questions and press submit, they'll receive an error message and their data won't submit. But they will be sent to the view2 meaning they can't recomplete the survey.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Luke

Re: Infopath 2013, Change view on Submit

Right I've finally fixed my issue. Its very weird and I think its exclusive to InfoPath 2013.

I removed all the functionality of my buttons and placed a new submit button onto my form (with no rules on it).

On the ribbon at the top I went to Data > Form Submit and added rules in this order:

    1. Switch to view: View2
    2. Submit data: Data Connection

I then clicked on my submit and went to Properties > Submit Actions > Advanced then set the 'after submit option' to 'leave the form open'.

Hopefully this  will help others with my issue. :)

I'm glad you got this sorted out. To clarify, InfoPath does not require a submit button - we often just use a regular button with rules and actions - so it may be something else is up with your form.
