Repeating table | extract values | pupulate another reapting table with selected values

    Hi there,

I am kinda new to InfoPath, so I hope some one can help with a project.

I am working on a travel planner in SharePoint. My form has a reapting Section where it displays a drop down list with Country names.

The idea is to select multiple countries by using the insert method.

I need to extract the chosen values from each dropbox. In SharepPoint I do have another list with specific information about a country ( country names is multiple e.g Country -> Item )

I have anothe repeating table linked to that list. I know I can use filters to hide unmatched entries. I successfully tested with 1 static dropbox country selection.

The issue: The 1st repeating section with the country choice works, but how can I get the chosen countries from the repeating section to populate the 2nd repeating table with the data from the other sharepoint list ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Mr-slacky,

Welcome to the InfoPath community! The scenario you're describing is definitely similar to situations we encounter often.

If I understand correctly, you have a nested repeating section in which a country is selected, and all items related to that country should be populated in a nested section?

Out-of-the-box there is not a good way to do this. I suggest using qRules Insert command paired with a query of your information. The nested repeating section gets a little more complex, but if you use a row count you can query your items list for the country, insert the number of rows from the repeating item, and set values in the section based on the position of returned values from the query on the repeating section itself.

    Here's a similar scenario: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/23650/82157.aspx#82157

Here's a link to download the trial version of qRules so you can try it out. http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/qRules_new.aspx

    Hope that helps!

[SOLVED] Re: Repeating table | extract values | pupulate another reapting table with selected values

    Solved the issue.

I am using the concat function to create a string from the repeating drop down listboxes and put that string in a hidden text field.

On teh 2nd repeatng table, I set a filter with a  "does not contain" rules to hide the not selected countries.

Now all is working fine and the 2nd repeating table lists only the selected countries.
