    Hide Fields without akward layout

    Infopath 2013

    Hello,

I  am currently designing a form and am trying to dynamically adjust the form based on choices.

So far I have 4 check boxes and checking each box unhides an explanation section .  So if they check 1 box they get 1 explanation box, if they check 3 they get 3 explanation boxes.  My issue is if they only select 1 check box there is a large gap where the other explanation section is hidden.  I thought of using views but I would need a view for every combination of checked/unchecked which would be cumbersome.

So is there a better way to hide/show text boxes so that if only 1 check box is selected there isn't 3 large empty text boxes sitting there hidden.

    Thanks in advance.

    Randle.

If you use a layout table, you can set rows to automatically determine the height - if you do that, when your explanation boxes hide, you shouldn't have any blank space.

I too had this problem of blank space showing between sections, and it look quite a few things to resolve it. As the above user mentioned, setting your row height to auto can help. In addition, I found that when you right click on each section and go to Section Properties... the Size tab had a fixed height for my sections. Once that was changed to auto as well, the issue was resolved. Keep in mind that if you set a section to auto and then manually adjust it later, it will go back to a fixed size. So, I advise changing the height to auto last. If there is still white space after that, remove all padding from every cell, section, and control (set to 0 not auto.) Sometimes, even margins can have similar effects on your form; usually I try to only have margins at the bottom of controls rather than on sections or cells. All of these changes removed the white space between hidden sections. Hopefully that helps!
