    id question

I need a unique number during the form creation to use to name the form. I tried pulling the id number, but I guess that doesn't update until a form is submitted? Tried using a number in a sharepoint list and incrementing it each time the form was submitted, but that only works if people submit before the next creation. It leaves the possibility that 2 forms can end up with the same name. Any help would be appreciated.

     Hello iwannabfishn,

There are a few ways you could create a unique number to use as the form name. The function now() returns the current date time in this format:  2014-11-24T17:45:59. On form open, you could capture this number, and set a field to the value using the translate function to take out the characters, example: translate(now(), "T:-", "")) in an action rule. You can then use the same rule on submit to set a second value to the same function, and then concatenate the two together.

Another option is qRules. With qrules, you can use the GenerateGuid command to auto generate a unique sting of numbers that is 32 characters in length. Here's a link to an overview of qRules listing features like GenerateGuid that can be helpful for form development.  http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/qRules_new.aspx

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. One of those should work perfect!
