Changing Field Controls on fields/columns that were imported from a 3 different Lists

     Hello,

I am building a three tabbed form in InfoPath. Each tab pulls from a different list library from sharepoint (each list contains different fields.) I created the columns first on sharepoint then I imported these fields from the data source.

    The problem:

I created different field types for this one list called "contacts" with all this personnel data.  They include check boxes and drop downs when I created them as share point list columns, but when I imported them in Infopath they all somehowshow up as "text" fields. I tried to change the field control in Infopath and made a text field a drop down field, but when I go to enter the values like Male, Female in the drop down, it forces me to assign a default value, but the default value is greyed out. What do I do?

I went back to the sharepoint list and it still shows up as a drop down selection with the values entered, but for some reason it doesn't show up like that in the infopath form. I deleted and reconnected to the list, but to no avail!

    Help!

    Hi PPR27 and welcome!

Even though the secondary data connections are returning text data, you can still bind that data to checkbox or dropdown controls. After dragging the data into the view, just right click and choose change to checkbox, or whatever. Or, you can right click the field from the data source and select the control you want to insert.

When running rules on your values, just use text comparisons.

    Good luck!
