    Big Problem Publishing Form

    Hi all,

Hope someone can help me with this issue..

Basically I've created a large infopath form and it was working ok until yesterday lunchtime. Since then I have not been able to publish it to any server without the error "Updating the content type failed". I've tried creating a new library and updating an existing one. I've tried removing all of the columns and just publishing a few fields and it works. So I add a column it doesn't work. I remove that column and try to republish expecting it to work again.. it doesn't. There's no consistency. In a matter of ours I had only managed to publish another 3 columns to what I started with.

I just understand the problem. I tried publishing a brand new empty form and and it worked. I suspect that the problem could be to do with the form. I've been developing in it for a while and it's been published and changed so many time, plus I'm using the "allow users to edit this field in datasheet view" functionality. But what I REALLY don't want to have to do is create the form again from scratch. I can copy and paste the layout but I'd have to recreate all of the underlying fields and I just can't face it!

If anyone has any ideas I would be so grateful to hear them!

    Hi edove,

What version of SharePoint are you publishing too? Sounds like 2007 since you mention the content type. Also, what version of InfoPath?

    Hi Ted,

    I'm using Infopath 2007 Sharepoint v3/2007.
    Thanks

    Hi Edove,
You can publish the form locally. You won't lose it. As for the content type issue - that seems like a SharePoint issue. Try publishing to a different SharePoint site. See if it works.

Hi Patrick, sorry I'm not sure what you mean. I'm trying to publish the final version of a form up to the clients sharepoint site. I can't publish it across the wan or inside their building. Nor can I publish the form to any other site.

Hmmm. Well, that is weird. Sounds like a network connectivity issue to me or a SharePoint permissions isuse. Are you an Admin on the SharePoint site?

Yes definitely. The strange thing is I can publish other forms no problem and I can publish a previous version of the form ok. The only thing changed before it stopped working was the number of columns I was trying to publish. I had a lot more columns and at that point it just wouldn't go through. I don't if that has anything to do with it.

Can you reduce the number of columns and try again?

    Re: Big Problem Publishing Form

Yes I did and it would publish. So I'd add a few more and it wouldn't. I remove the ones that then added so it was back to where it published ok previously and tried again and that time it wouldn't publish.
