The form has validation errors and the submit data connection cannot execute.

     Hello there,

I'm getting the above error when trying to use the SubmitToSharePointList function . I've run through the videos as well as searched through the forms but I've had no luck. I've no validation rules set on the fields (within the node that I want to submit to SharePoint)  or the Sharepoint list so I'm at a loss to figure out what's giving me the error. Hopefully its something simple. If you could point me in the right direction for trying to figure it out it would be much appreciated.

I'm evaluation QRules at the moment and it seems to work well and this would "seal the deal". I've attached my mapping file (That's added to my XSN as a resource file). I'd like to attach my XSN but its too large. (1.38 MB)

    Regards,

    Hi Sean,

I believe that this error occurs when you are attempting to submit a form with blank field tagged as "cannot be blank". You will be able to locate this easily by expanding the form's schema. All "cannot be blank" fields will have a red asterisk. Fill this field out before submitting to SharePoint. Also, you can use the qRules command ClearErrors to clear all validations before submitting to SharePoint, or use a validation instead (if a certain condition is not met) in order to have this field as required. Please let me know if this helps resolve your issue or email us directly at Support at Qdabra dot com.

Thanks for the quick response Don,

I've checked the node and can't see a "cannot be blank" options for the relevant node. I created a separate form to test out my logic with SubmittoSharePointList with the same nodes and it works perfectly, but the form I'm want it to work on fails (Doh!). There are some rules on other fields but not within the node I want to send to SharePoint. I'll try the clearerrors function and try again, but I'll also send you a copy of the form which does not work (if that's ok - if not just ignore the e-mail)

I'm impressed with QRules as its just an easy way for me (not a developer - just a mere mortal) to build some forms with some essential functionality without having to crack open a copy of Visual Studio.

    Regards,

You nailed it. I did not think that a validation rule on another part of the form would stop the submittosharepointlist function but it looks as though it does. Works without a problem once I removed the validation rule.

    Hi Sean,

I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue. Validation rules and "cannot be blank" fields will prevent users from submitting the form since they are required, but a work around using the ClearErrors will allow you to submit forms in case you are allowing users to save their work (using a save button with this logic) prior to submitting a completed form.

qRules is indeed a powerful tool that lets you manipulate your form without writing code. If by any chance you encounter other qRules issues, please let us know by posting your issue here or email us at Support (at) Qdabra (dot) com.
