InfoPath cannot open the following view Error

I'm really hoping someone can help me. I've created a form that is now giving me this error only when I try and preview my initial view:

Infopath cannot open a new form.

The form Template is not valid

InfoPath cannot open the following view: View 1 The following view file is not valid: view1.xsl

The .xsl file is not valid XSL.

A reference to variable or parameter 'uniqueItems' cannot be resolved. The variable or parameter may not be defined, or it may not be in scope.

I've started over almost 20 times now because of this error. I am not doing anything out of the ordinary like using custom code etc. I'm by no means an expert with infopath but I do know what I am doing. Can someone help me fix this bug so I dont have to keep starting over. Thanks in advance. Thomas

Check all your dropdowns / combo boxes. Do any of them have the unique items checkbox selected but nothing for the options? Sometimes if a drop down has lost it's settings for the data connection to provide the options but that checkbox is selected, I've had this error.

phew. Thank you very much that fixed it. For some reason it completely changed my drop-down both without me ever touching it. Thanks again.

I'm dying to know when InfoPath does this and why. I've not yet found a pattern. Is your drop down bound to a field in your main data source or a secondary data source?

Its bound to a secondary data source with a filter applied

Thanks - if you think of it, and it does it again, and you happen to notice when it does it again, I'd love to know.... Like I said, I've yet to track down when this happens & would love to find that pesky bug. Right now, the form I have where I see this happen, I check the drop down prior to publishing. Mine that does this is also a secondary data source. I just went and checked it and it does have a filter. I don't get the error you do - because in this particular drop down, I know I have unique items returned from my query - but I do have times where I've published the form and there are no values in the drop down, because IP has removed the information about the data connection used for populating the drop down.

I figured out whats causing it Hilary.

Every time I add a button and set a rule so that when its clicked it changes views, the drop down box completely resets itself.

This at least is why it happens for me

Let me know if you have other questions
