InfoPath Update list and submit copy of form to Document Library

Hi all, I'm trying to update a sharepoint list which I know how to do, by just starting a new infopath form from a sharepoint list, but I'm also trying to save a copy of the form to a sharepoint document library. So basically the process would go like this. 1. Query an ID from a sharepoint list that brings in multiple items to the form. 2. Update, add or delete lines in the sharepoint list. (I have completed this part) 3. Submit a read only copy of the entire form that was used to a document library so that it may go through a workflow approval process. Thanks you for the help in advance. Thomas

I don't think InfoPath is going to let you do this out of the box - SharePoint List forms are pretty different from forms that can submit to a library, unfortunately.

I think you'd have to start with an InfoPath form intended for use with a library, then use qRules, code or a CAML query to submit your list info.

Re: InfoPath Update list and submit copy of form to Document Library

Thank you for the reply Hilary. I was afraid this might not be possible. Maybe there is another way fro me to accomplish what I want. The most important thing for me is to be able to submit the form to a document library which I know how to do. Then be able to query a secondary sharepoint list and add or delete rows from that list. It doesn't have to actually update the sharepoint list, it just need the ability to display the information in the form and then submit it to the document library. The problem is when you add a secondary data source to the infopath form started from a Document library template, it wont let you add or remove rows from the list. I basically just want to query data from a sharepoint list. The information in that sharepoint list isnt always correct so I need the user to be able to update, add or delete the information that gets pulled from the query. It doesn't have to actually update the sharepoint list. I just want the information to be seen in the form. Again I dont have to actual update the list i just want the changes to be reflected on the form. Is there something else I can possibly do? I tried making a repeating table which works for manual row creation, but when i set the values of the repeating table to mimic the secondary data connection in only brings in the first record. Is there a way to mimic a repeating section into a repeating table and copy all the rows. Thanks again for the help.

I would love to use Qdabra as every issue I have ever run into seems like it could be solved by using that software, but I work for a rather large company and getting that installed might be a bit of a hassle a rather expensive which I do not know I would be able to justify

The problem is that InfoPath won't save changes to secondary data in the main data source when you save it. So - without code or qRules I'm afraid there is not a way to do this.
