    IF statement in infopath

Hello, I'm brand new to InfoPath so sorry if this is a silly question.

What is the InfoPath equivalent IF statement? I searched the net and people have posted using rules but I'm not sure how I can get it to work. I'm trying to sum a total value:

    =SUM(IF([Capped Home Value]>0,[Capped Home Value],[Home Value])+IF([RV Capped Value]>0,[RV Capped Value],[RV Value])+[Assessable Income Streams]+[Bank Accounts])

I get an error when I put that it the formula box.

     Any guidance greatly appreciated.

     Thanks,

    Jeremy

It is not a silly question - but there is no such thing as an "if" statement in InfoPath. I'm guessing the above is from Excel?

You can add a filter to the data you wish to total - you'd select the field using the field picker and add a filter by clicking the "filter data" button.

Here is a link to an overview of InfoPath functions that may help you get started writing formulas in InfoPath: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/functions-in-infopath-HP001155281.aspx

Thanks for the reply and that link. I will be saving it as a favourite.

The above was from SharePoint, but I am using a custom InfoPath for and it doesn't work.

I'll give the filter tip a try.

     Thanks again.
