sandbox solution could not be activated

I am using InfoPath 2010, and SharePoint 2010.  I have created a very basic test form that has one button, one field, and C# code behind.  When I preview the form, I can click the button and see the text field get updated as a result of the code call.  I am trying to publish the form as a sandboxed solution.  My SharePoint installation uses a multi-server farm.  When I try to publish the form, I recieve the following error:

The sandboxed solution could not be activated.  The custom code in the form cannot be run. This functionality may be deactivated on the server.  For more information, contact the server farm administrator.

Based on what I have already found on google, I have tried each of the following already but have not had any success, same error message still occurs.

    • Checked with my network administrator to make sure that none of our servers are domain controllers.  (This eliminates the possibility of this being the issue - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2026191)
    • Made sure the 'Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service' is running
    • Restarted the 'Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service'
    • Checked the ULS error logs and there are no errors showing up when I attempt the publish
    • Use 'Server Manager' to make sure the 'SharePoint 2010 User Code Host' service is running
    • Tried publishing a form with code using the farm administrator account to make sure it wasn't a permissions issue.  Same error.
    • Tried increasing the SPUserCodeService.WorkerProcessExecutionTimeout value from 30 to 300
    • Made sure there were not any errors in the Design Checker within the InfoPath form
    • I do not believe that any of the 'using' statements in my code could be calling a dll that requires full trust.  I am only using the four specified below
      • Microsoft.Office.InfoPath
      • System
      • System.Xml
      • System.Xml.Xpath
    • In the InfoPath form, under Form Options > Security and Trust, I have tried using the 'Automatically determine security level' as well as 'Domain'.  Same error both ways.  If I change it to be Full Trust, I get a different error which I would exect since it would need to be published as administrator approved.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    -Andrea

     Hi Andrea,

Are you a sharepoint site collection admin on the site you're trying to publish to? In order to publish forms containing code with the sandbox service, you need to be a site collection admin.  Go to Site Settings on your root site (not any of the subsites) and look underneath the Users and Permissions section. If you see a link called Site Collection Administrators, then you are already an admin. If you don't, then you're not and you'll have to ask IT to add you as one.

Re: sandbox solution could not be activated

Thanks for your reply.  I do see the 'Site Collection Administration' settings on the site I attempt to publish to.  It seems to be that I tried it with an account that didn't have permission in some of the many various tests I did and I saw a different error message when I did that, something that actually indicated it was a permissions issue.  Any other thoughts?

What error message did you receive? You may want to check the SharePoint permissions on the library you are attempting to publish to.

Re: sandbox solution could not be activated

Although I can't remember exactly what the error message was when I used an account without sufficient persmission, I remember it clearly stating that you needed to have site collection administrator permissions.  However, the error message I care about solving is the one that occurs when I use an account that does have all the appropriate permissions.  The error message is:

The sandboxed solution could not be activated. The custom code in the form cannot be run. This functionality may be deactivated on the server. For more information, contact the server farm administrator.

I can publish to the same library just fine if the form has no code.  I have tried this on many sites, many libraries, and always get the above error as soon as I add any code to the form.  I simplify the test as much as possible and continue to get the above error.

It may be that InfoPath is running into issues that the error message is not accurately conveying. There's a great 3rd party tool I use in these cases called Fiddler that will allow you to examine in detail the web traffic being sent between your computer and the SharePoint server.  I would download Fiddler, if you don't have it already, and run it to capture your web traffic being sent back & forth as you publish.  Any errors should be highlighted in red and should contain more information than you are getting in the InfoPath error message.

It is a browser form so that explains why that option is not working. Now, I made the form with the intention of using it in the browser but that is not a neccesity. I could switch the form over to a filler form if that makes it work.
