    Issue Tracking Job Assignment

    All,

    SP 2010
    InfoPath 2010

I've hit a road block in my thinking.  I'm making something very simple, overly complex.

I'm creating an issue tracking/helpdesk form.

I can easily log the initial issue/call.

Yet, I'm struggling with assigning the issue to a tech for resolution.

I've an initial repeating table RT,Assignee which hooks into a SharePoint list.

This has two columns Group and Assignee.

Once an assignee has been selected another repeating table appears. (It's hidden by a rule if the above assignee column is blank)

You have to select the assignee name again and then add a description of what you want them to do i.e. fix the call.

This is OK, yet a little clunky.  The downside is I can't publish this form as a web form because is seems that the action item repeating table relies on the  RT.Assignee not being blank.

Has anybody assigned "tasks" or jobs to other people using an InfoPath form.  Thinking of it another way, you could think of it as I need X approved by X number of people.

Or how can I add a group, assignee and a description which look elegant?

My default form width is 900px.

I've never really played with the default SharePoint tasks list as tasks to my end users in Outlook are alien and just not used.

The assignment mechanism has to be fairly flexible because assignees come and go, get altered, deleted etc.

Does anybody have anything they would be willing share, advise on?

    Thanks

Your screen shots aren't showing.... Can you add them under the Options tab in a reply (or replies, since we only allow one file per post...)

Given up on this particular method. A web based form wasn't liking what I was doing. Back to the drawing board.
