    AutoFill Repeating Table

Hi, This is my first post on this forum so forgive if this question has been asked before.

Let me give a quick overview of the form I created, we have a drop list of addresses of Tenants which autofills the rest of the details of the tenants, eg. date of birth, age postcode etc....

Then there is a repeating table which the user adds additional occupants within the propertythis all works fine. however now I have been asked to redesign so the occupant section is autofill and the data is taken from a seperate db,the problem here is that there can be more than 1 addtional occupant within the property and the only common element between the 2 db's is the tenant ref numbers.
Is it possible to have autofill repeating table and how do i setup the tenant ref field to look up the 2nd db to autofill the table if at all possible. 1 more thing the user must be able to add occupants manually if they are not already listed. I hope someone can help with this, I've only started using Infopath a month ago and this site has been extremely helpful. Keep up the good work!!!

    Hi Shiraz,

For a month of using InfoPath it seems like you are off to a great start! This is a little complicated. If the database is setup as a secondary data source then you should add a rule to the address drop-down that sets the value of queryFields/tenantId to the value of the dropdown, then add another rule that requieres the database connection. I think this should do what you are trying to accomplish.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the reply that is what I was looking at doing, however my knowledge of creating rules is quite there yet...Theres no problem with adding the first rule but the 2nd rule you proposed is where I break down. I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction on how to create the rule.

    Thanks,
    Shiraz

    Hi Shiraz,

The second one is probably easier than the first one!

    1. On the drop-down, click Rules -> Add.
    2. Name it something descriptive
    3. Click Add Action
    4. Select "Query using a data connection"
    5. Select the appropriate data connection, and then click OK until you are back on the view.
