Allow attachment control to be blank?

So I created an infopath form with an attachment field and control. However there won't always be an attachment to be put on, and the form won't allow itself to be submitted without the attachment. I go into the properties but "Cannot be blank" is automatically ticked and greyed out. Any ideas?

    Hi garnerish,

    Welcome to InfoPathDev.

I understand that you are unable to manipulate your form's file attachment's properties, so I am assuming that the attachment field is bound to a database schema. Best practice for cases like this is to create a form using XML schema in order to have full control. You may check this forum thread for a more detailed explanation of what or why it is happening.
