    auto suggestion

I am looking for a feature more powerful than auto suggestion.
    For example,
I have a Infopath form with a few controls which are ProjectName, ProjectDescription, and UpdateDate, so on.
I have a project name is called "Planning application-corporate project". I would like that I will be able to search this project by typing in any word, then Infopath provide me with a suggestion list(similiar names list), then I could choose this project name from the suggestion list.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Accesswang!
So you want to search for that project amont many forms, or just within the form that you are editing? We have a Smart Search prototype that we could give you to try. Please send me e-mail.

Thanks Patrick. That is great!I would like to search for the projectname within the form I am working on (current form).

BWT, a similar question, if the projectName is a field on a form which is created based on a database. When I search the projectName from dataset, for example, while I am typing a word in this field, I would like to see a list of suggestions (similar project names), then I could choose one from the list.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Accesswang,
I need to make sure I understand what you need. So, you are saying that you have the projectname in the form. Is it in a dropdown or a text control? For the similar project names example, what defines similarity? Search normalization is difficult because it can be morphological - match anything starting with common prefixes (for example, "any*"), syntactical - match both passive and active tense (for example, "killed" and "kill"), and semantic - match meaning (for example, semiconductor chips vs. potato chips). Search is a pretty deep area, and not sure where you really want to go.

Our Smart Search and Smart Combo Box provide some search functionality. Smart Search provides search within forms. Smart Combo Box provides type-ahead for dropdowns and can be connected to a Web service on top of a database. Smart Search is in an alpha state. We have released Smart Combo Box but it is fairly limited.

    Hi Patrick,

    Sorry for my poor English.

My situation is that, I have two applications are using Infopath.
1st one: I have a plain form with three fields which are
    ProjectName,ProjectDescription, and UpdateDate
    in the repeating table.
For example, I have project names called
    Engineering Project 1,
    Engineering Project 2,
    Engineering Project 3,
    Engineering Project 4,
    Engineering Project 5,
    Planning Project 1,
    Planning Project 2,
    Planning Project 3,
    Planning Project 4,
    Planning Project 5 …
The projectname field is a text control (I would like to
    use).
    If I type in:
    Planing
    Planning Project 2
    Planning Project 3
    Planning Project 4
    Planning Project 5
I will be able to see 5 choices show up as a tooltip
under my cursor, then I can choose one of them.
It looks like “search by any word” in the form.

2nd one: I have a form is created based on a database.
    I have a few fields
such as ProjectName, ProjectDescription, and UpdateDate.
    For example,
    I have project names called
    Engineering Project 1,
    Engineering Project 2,
    Engineering Project 3,
    Engineering Project 4,
    Engineering Project 5,
    Planning Project 1,
    Planning Project 2,
    Planning Project 3,
    Planning Project 4,
    Planning Project 5 …
I would like to use a text control, If I type in
    2
    Engineering Project 2
    Planning Project 2
I will be able to see 2 availables show up as a tooltip
under my cursor, then I can choose one of them.
It looks like “search by any word” in the dataset.

Regarding the “Smart Search and Smart Combo Box provide some search functionality” you mentioned in your previous reply, can you identify that the one (description in the following)I am using now is the one of them? Otherwise, can you tell me how to use those method? Thanks in advance.
I am using a Combo Box for the projectname field now, and the projectnames can be pre-populated by using rules. When I type a letter in that Combo Box field, the cursor will go to that project name with that letter at the 1st position (is that as same as your "Smart Search is in an alpha state"?).

    Hi Accesswang,
Thanks for adding the detail. Here's what Greg says:

[2:12:33 PM] Greg Collins says: open repeating section properties. add a filter based on the value of a text box.
[2:12:39 PM] Greg Collins says: you also need to make sure
[2:12:43 PM] Greg Collins says: you account for a blank text box
[2:12:53 PM] Greg Collins says: so you don't filter everything out when its blank
