Publishing is causing prompt for login credentials?

For some reason all of a sudden when I try to publish a form to a share point library it is asking me for login credential. It has never done this before. Once I type in my login it doesn't accept it and asks me to login again. Yes I am positive my login and password are 100% correct. I tried some things i found on the internet like adding the server web address to trusted location in IE, but it did not work. Is this a license issue or permission issue for myself? I check the credentials and I have full control. Anything else anyone can think of. Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same issue with another user. I designed the form. Published it to the library. Everything works great.  I sent the other designer the template. It is a full trust template so she applied her code writing certificate. Yet when she tries to publish it, she gets prompted to enter her credentials.

The catch is that she can go to the library she is trying to publish it to and create/open/submit the same template in that library without any credential prompts. But when she goes to Infopath and tries to publish the template to that same library, she gets prompted for credentials and when she enters the correct credentials, it doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Re: Publishing is causing prompt for login credentials?

    I am infrastructure support person, on this project i am supporting sharepoint environment and have very little knowlege about forms and stuff. What i did 2 days back, i removed one of the domain user group from sharepoint and added back in for some reason. But after that following is happening;

When user open the leave request infopath form, it prompts them; Enter your credentials to connect to the following web service. http://........../_vti_bin/Lists.asmx. When the user enter the credentials, doesn't work, and again asks the same. But when i enter admin credentials, form opens and user is able to submit.

Following troubleshooting steps i did without any luck, and trust me the permission in the library for domain users is exact same as before which is contribute and unique permissions.

     1. I cleared the user Internet Explorer. Cleared the InfoPath cache. Tried but same pop where it says Enter your credentials to connect to the following web service. http://seraph.echn.ca/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx
User credentials did not works and it keep asking.
     2. I entered admin credentials and it opened the form.
     3. I thought may be user profile is messed up on pc, so I created a brand new user and gave contribute access to the test user and logged in with the test user to computer first and then opened sharepoint and opened the leave request InfoPath form and same issue  , and when I gave admin id , form opened. I tried with all users almost, exact same issue.
     4. One more thing, I also logged into the sharepoint server and did iisreset as well.

    Please help....

I resolved the issue. I will explain the issue and hope it helps. After trying all the steps, like clearing internet explorer history, infopath cache..checking library permission.......

    1. Open the form as a user, when it asked for webservice credentials, just hit cancel and read the message. In my case in that message it was mentioning another list name.

    2. Examine your info path form data connections very carefully and check how it is making connections. In my case i noticed that the list mentioned in the error message is mentioned in the data connection.

    3. I went to Sharepoint site, and went to that particular list which was totally separate list being called by infopath form. I checked the permissions for that particular list and i didnot find the domain users, i added the permissions and worked fine.

I spent so much time to fix this issue, and thought i might save some time to someone else..

    Thanks,

    Cheers..

Re: Publishing is causing prompt for login credentials?

Hi There! I am having the a similar issue however my error message is referencing a URL that ends in /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx I am not familiar with asmx and I cannot figure out where my form is picking this up from. I do not see this list mentioned anywhere in the data connections, and cannot figure out how to make this go away. This just began happening spontaneously yesterday and my form will not allow me to publish the form to this particular site collection without credentials for this URL. Any suggestions? Thank you, Jen

According to MSDN, the Webs web service "provides methods for working with sites and subsites" - so I'd guess that this is a normal part of the publish process and something else has changed. Have your permissions changed on the site? Do you have a SharePoint admin who can take a look?
