No errors with QRules, but no rows created in list

I am unable to get my list items to show up after submission. I followed multiple tutorials and used the QDabra Mapping tool and QRules methods. Prior to that I was able to get blank rows to show up in the table with no data in them, but now I am not getting anything in my lists. No errors are appearing from the QRules error control either. I have searched this forum and others while trying many different things without success. I am new to Infopath and appreciate any help. Thanks

It sounds like you may have an issue with your mapping file (blank rows with no data) and that you might have accidentally disabled qRules (by adding code - this is very easy to do).

Put the Command and Result node on your form and preview. Type this into the command node:

    GenerateGuid

and tab out. Do you get a GUID in the result node?

Hi Hilary, Thanks for the quick reply. I do get a Guid - 7ba11c8d-bda3-4037-8e47-e69f845deac9

Awesome - sounds like qRules is working. That makes it seem like it may either be your command or your mapping. Do you mind posting a copy of your form under the "Options" tab in a reply so I can take a look?

I have included the form for you to look at. Thank you!

    Try the following

Change your submit button to use Rules and Custom Code for the Action instead of Submit (or just add a new test button) in the button properties.

Since your mapping connection is named "mapping" you don't need that parameter, so your command can just be:

    SubmitToSharePointList /submit=ShpListSubmit

Update the mapping in your form with this one - you can just go to the data tab on the ribbon, select resource files, click Add and overwrite the existing mapping file in the form. In your mapping, you had indicated that there is a repeating group (there is not) but all the individual mappings were not relative paths.

Change those things and let's see where we are. :)

For some reason, I am not able to download the mapping file. When I click on it, I am getting a file not found error.

Me too! Let me attach it again with a file extension. With this one, walk through your mapping data connection again and browse to this file (or remove the file extension and add it as a resource file).

Fantastic! It's working now. Thank you very much!

Another side question, why will this not work without QRules? I kept everything the same, but changed the rule to submit to the data connection without using QRules, but all I get are blank rows.

Re: No errors with QRules, but no rows created in list

You changed it to just submit to the Lists web service connection?

qRules generates the CAML submitted to the Lists service based on the mapping in the mapping file.

However, since your form doesn't have any repeating data, I'm not certain why you are submitting to a list to begin with? I would just promote all the fields to the form library in this case.

Re: No errors with QRules, but no rows created in list

I may be going about this the wrong way too so please let me know if one way is better than the other. This form is the initial one filled out by someone who wants to do construction on site. based on the checkbox answers, there may be 2-5 more forms to fill out. Currently this is all on paper. I want to make the process electronic where they fill out the form you have seen, then based on the answers would get the other forms. I want the common data (ProjectID, Project Name, Start Date, etc) to pass through to subsequent forms. So basically if Checkbox A in Form 1 is yes, goto Form 2 which will contain some data previously entered on Form 1 and so on. Currently I am also submitting this to a form library named with ProjectID-(name of form).

Re: No errors with QRules, but no rows created in list

To easily pass data from one form to another, you may want to use qRules GetInputParameter command - you can have a link in form 1 that opens form 2 and includes input parameters in the URL (like "custID=123" or something) and then form 2 has qRules and uses GetInputParamter to get the data from the URL and load up info into the form....
