"Cannot be blank" setting not working

    Hi everyone,

I have a form with a repeating table with 4 fields in it. all of the fields are set to "Cannot be Blank". I have several users in multiple countries filling out the form on SharePoint, but the users in other countries are able to leave one of the fields empty without getting any errors. The users here in our U.S. office get an error when they try to save the form with a blank field though. Is there a setting that needs to be set in order to make sure that all required fields have information in them before allowing users to save the form?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

How odd, I've not heard of this before. Can you get an XML that has been submitted with one of the required fields blank? It would be interesting to look at the XML to see if the field is really really blank. This is just the cannot be blank checkbox that has been selected? No custom validation?

     Hi Hillary,

The cannot be blank checkbox has been selected and I also tried setting up a rule for it but I am not very savvy on the rule setup. I tried adding the xml file but its too large of a file is there some other way of sending it to you? I'll attach a screenshot of it.

So - in the screenshot I see the red asterisk - do the users that can submit with fields blank see that red asterisk?

Yes, they can see it. But they get no error and are able to save it this way.

So - sorry to pester you with questions - are they saving the form? Or do you have a submit button that they use? InfoPath will let you save a form with validation errors - it usually tells you about the errors tho and verifies you REALLY want to save. But it won't let you submit with errors. Is save enabled for the form template?

Its no problem, I greatly appreciate the help. They are saving the form because for some reason the submit button I set up never worked. I had you take a look at it on another thread and we couldn't figure out why the submit button wasn't working so I removed it.

Okay - there is nothing you can do to prevent them from saving with validation errors, other than asking them nicely. You may want to try setting up a new test form in a test library to see if you can figure out the issue you were having with submit so you can disable Save and force them to submit.

Ok, I will try to fix the issue with the submit button thanks, I do have one more question while I'm at it. is there any way to add a print button to a form?

    Not without adding code.
