InfoPath rules - validate user by looking at drop down list box items.

    Hi,

I m hoping that someone in this forum might have encountered this situation and already got help on 'how-to.'.

I have a textbox with email addresses separated by semi colons. I also have a drop down list box with those peoples' userid. What I m trying to validate is if username() doesn't match any of the drop down list box items, then deactivate a button  to submit. I don't know if its simple to achieve or a custom code is needed.

I want to do it using rules if possible. Please let me know. TIA.

    Hi nemo385,

I don't think that you will be able to disable the submit button using the contents of the drop-down list if the choices were entered manually. However, if the items are queried from a list, you can re-query the list filtered by the current user (username()), and then have a formatting condition to disable the submit button if the number of rows returned by the query is less then 1 or equal to zero (which mean that the current user is not in the list since your query did not return any value). I hope this makes sense.
