Hi,
I am creating an
InfoPath form. That will be used to capture information for a list. I have another list which will use the first
list to determine who the approvers are for a request. The first list is basically a matrix that
will be populated with various properties which will include the names of the
approvers depending on the scenario.
Now, As far as the
approvers are concerned I don’t want to make those fields required. In case the person only has the scenario
information but they do not know who the approvers are they should be able to
still submit the form with the information they have to the first list. However, if someone in the second list fills
out a form and selects the scenario that does not have approvers listed I would
like for the second form to notify them that they will not be able to submit
the form for approval due to not having enough approvers assigned for the scenario.
Now my issue is I am trying figure out how best to implement
this. My thoughts were to set up a field
on the first form which will see if the approver fields are completed and it
they were to have a field which will count the number of approvers that have
been populated and save this number. For
example
Approver One: Yes there is a person assigned (+1)
Approver Two: No there is no signature (0)
Approver Three: Yes there is a person assigned (+1)
Approver Four: Yes there is a person assigned (+1)
For a total of 3 which would populate a hidden field with
the value. The second list would then be
able to look at the field with the number and if the field is less than 2 (for
this we only require at least two people be assigned in order to have the
approval process to begin) then the Submit for Approval button is disabled with
a tooltip explaining that there are not enough assigned approvers for the
scenario.
Is there any way to achieve this without using code? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
