I have a library with about 8000 documents. The owner of the library requested a field that had previously not been a column in the library to be populated so they could sort on that field. I promoted the column in InfoPath and republished the template to the library. Is there a way other than relinking to the template to get the field populated? The issue with relinking is that the group has notifications set on the folder and last time I tried relinking it changed the modified date and sent out 8000 notices to the group. If relinking is the only way I guess I can have them turn off notifications while I do it, but I was just wondering if there was a different way.
