Form with Secondary List Data as Source not Saving selections on that Data

I have a form where I load a secondary data source from a Sharepoint list. I load up that list on open and allow the user to select whether they will Participate or Assist with any of the Events in the list. The Participate/Assist options are coming from the Sharepoint list. The other fields I have coming from the list I made Read Only. But, when I go to publish the form to the Sharepoint library, the user's designation on the Participate/Assist columns are not being kept. Any help would be appreciated. I am also thinking about Exporting as a PDF. But, when I use Hillary's code to export, the radio buttons become boxes and the user selections aren't included either. So, I am lost.

Its possible that you only have a Receive Secondary connection.  I believe you'd need an additional Submit Secondary to the Participate/Assist list.

Read this & see if it helps:

I do only have a Receive data connect. Here is my problem. I am pulling in a SP list with 5 fields and having the user check a box on whether they will Participate in or Assist with events in the SP list. The only way I could have the checkboxes that matched events was to have a field for each in the SP list. But, now I have a form with Main fields and the Secondary fields and I would like to either: submit all of the data to a SP list or submit the form with all of the answers to a library. The issue is that the user designations on the form aren't kept when normally submitted to the library. So, I was trying to publish as a PDF. But, even the PDF doesn't have the user selections.

Anybody have any idea how I could submit my form data to a secondary data source and include the following? > Information coming from a Sharepoint list in a secondary data connect > Information gathered on the form under the Main connection

You can use CAML to update SharePoint list items from data in an InfoPath form. It doesn't matter where the InfoPath data comes from (SharePoint or user input) as long as you can reference it in the code you can write it to a SharePoint list.   This method requires a separate data connection to 'Submit' data and you will use a Web Service that is built into SharePoint.  You will also create an XML file that will be connected as a data source as the CAML template.  Here is a link that gives you all the steps to get it done. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/infopath/archive/2007/03/26/submitting-to-a-sharepoint-list.aspx  It can be a little difficult to understand at first (unless you are very familiar with XPathNavigator already).  After you use it a while you will find that it works very well.
