    Hi everyone,

i am new to using infopath, but trying to get my head around it.

i have create a form the user enters data into, the form can not be completed by the creator, this means another user has to open the form to enter data into it.

what i have done is create several listboxs is name, department and request. so when department is selected it returns only the names that work in that department and when the name is selected it returns the requests made by the user.

    this is working fine

What i want to do is use a button to filter a SQL database with the results of the selections and  change to a view diplaying the results on the form.

i have tried using rules but am strugling to return the correct results (i always return the first record on the database)

does anyone know if this can be done ? i prefer not to use code if possible

    thank you for your time

    Hi Kevin,

    Welcome to InfoPathDev.

I don't have any idea yet on how you are querying your SQL database but here is a link on a short blog for the list of options you can take when querying SQL Data from InfoPath Forms (How-to links provided):

    http://sharepoint-community.net/profiles/blogs/querying-sql-data-from-infopath-forms

I would personally recommend using DBXL since it gives you security - no possibility of SQL injection, a better edge since it is flexible - allows you to manipulate data more, plus the fact that it is an awesome tool which doesn't require code writing.

    Cheers!
