    Unable to add field values

Hi all. I've searched through this site and couldn't find an answer to my issue. If this has already been posted, I apologize in advanced. I'm using InfoPath 2013 and when I try to add the value of three fields, it just doesn't work. I have an Estimated Procurement Costs (EPC) field that "sums" three fields. HardwareProfileOption, AccessoriesCheckboxes and SoftwareCheckboxes. When I select a HardwareProfileOption, the costs show up on the EPC field. But when I put check marks in fields, nothing comes up. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is my very first InfoPath form and I have ZERO experience so please excuse my ignorance Thanks in advanced!

Re: Unable to add field values

    Hi,

I was able to check y our form and noticed that you weren't using a sum(field1) when adding the total sum of a repeating data. Further tests shows that the checkbox isn't refreshing the total sum value. The workaround is going to be a bit tedious so I would suggest using a calculate button that would add all the values. Your button formula should look similar to this:

    sum(SoftwareCheckBoxes) + sum(AccessoriesCheckBoxes) + HardwareProfileOption

Is this approach possible for you?

Re: Unable to add field values

Awesome! It works thanks!!! Ok another question :D So I'm trying to set a soft SLA. I would like for the "StartDate" field to PROMPT (not forbid) a user that IT requires at least a week to fulfill requests. Also, if they select a "Special Order/APR" Hardware Profile, it will prompt (not forbid) that IT requires at least TWO weeks. Can you please provide tips on that? I got the start date to forbid but I don't know how to just prompt/FYI a user that they are violating SLA Thanks again for the right formula! TK

Re: Unable to add field values

    Hi TK,

I'm glad that the solution works for you. Regarding date differences, please refer to this thread and check Jimmy's approach for calculating dates. However, due to the limitations of InfoPath, I would strongly recommend qRule's DateDiff command to account for business hours and holidays. As for prompt messages, the easiest way is to use a Calculated Value (Expression Box) along with a couple of hide/show rules. Hope this helps.
