Building a data access request form using parameters to SQL queries

    InfoPath 2010

I never heard of Infopath until today but after much reading it might do what's needed.  I'm here to ask if it can and guidance on actually building the form.

    Files/Fields =Tables/Columns

I'm a Data Warehouser:  Users request access to various files and fields that must be extracted from an information system into SQL tables.  I would like to automate the request.

I want to provide these prompts to user:

    • Requester Name*  (hopefully from Active Directory)
    • Request Date*
    • Station*  (hospital identifier)
    • Data Domain (optional)
    • Comments
    • Present a list of files from station and allow user to check the desired files. (retrieved from RDWWork.Dim.VISTAFile)
    • For each file selected a list of fields available in that file presented for user to select from (retrieved from RDWWork.Dim.VistaField)

NOTE: Each station has a unique information system and  set of files/fields.

    Parameters:

    • Station for the first query
    • VistaFileID  (joining column)

The Requester Name, Request Date, Station, Data Domain, Comments and list of files (2 columns Filename & FileNumber) and Fields (2 columns Fieldname & Field Number) constitute the request to be submitted for approval to an Active Directory group.

    Is this doable?

Hello Hawk73ku, In response to your question, yes this is possible. There are web services that make this doable. Is your database local or on the web?
