    InfoPath for users without intranet

Hi all, I'm studying the opportunity to use infopath for data retrieval qith user outside the intranet...can you suggest something?

Can I use RegForm in order to install the template?

    I'm using Infopath 2003 SP2.

    Thank you

    Hi Tatopitta,
Regform will allow you to install the form on a computer as a URN solution - not tied to a website. If the extranetted employees have access to a common website you can still use that and just tell them to add it to their Local Intranet security group in IE and login when they get the SharePoint authentication popups. If you need a hybrid solution where the extranet people send form data in e-mail to an internal alias and those people upload it to an intranet site, there are some tricks. We have done many of these types of solutions. Please explain more of the requirements you have.

Hi Patrick, thanks for your reply.
In my scenario I have users geographically distributed and not connected. They can only use email to communicate with us. They need to use an InfoPath 2003 SP2 form. Mi idea is to use the RegForm tool in order to create a setup file and install it on users' pc. The forms are created, saved locally and then sent to us by email. If I need an external data sources for master data, I can send them an XML file read by the Form. here's my doubt:
-Can the Infopath forms be read by everyone even if the InfoPath template is installed in different paths? In form the url of the templated is related to the position of the template in the users' pc which can be different from my pc.

Is my idea correct in your opinion?
    Thank you for the support.

    Hi again,
We have done the same solution before. Regform makes the solutions URN-based, so the don't correspond to "paths". They are "path"-less. The tempaltes are installed in the registry. This works great. However, there are some challenges moving the resulting xml forms from an extranet submitter into an intranet data store. Definitely there are some obscure tricks that you will need to learn and we'd be happy to help you master the technique. Good luck!

It's very clear now the concept of URN-based form!
But what do you mean with "extranet submitter into an intranet data store"?The submitter is completely outside intranet and he can use only the mail. The form filled in by the users must be sent by email to me and I must be able to open it. That's all, I need to create a CSV file from the xml form (full trust required and with RegForm the form is full trust). If I cannot open it, I won't choose InfoPath :(

Make sure you install the MSI on your machine too. You should be able to open. Full trust is a pain but not if you're using regform. :)

There is a full trust switch for regform. Please check it out. Works fine.
