Building a dynamic form based off dropbox selection

Good afternoon all, first time visitor, but more than likely I'll be a long time member.

I am workign on a new form for my work place. It will be an access request form. We are looking to build the form to handle a number of systems, such as TSIEM, Qradar, Linux Servers, etc. Some of the data needed and instructions given differs for each different system. I'm hoping someone can head me in the right direction on getting this done. I am guessing that it is going to require some coding, and that is fine, I have some python and VB training, so I am sure I can handle it, but I've not very much experience with IP. I've been digging around for a minute, and have found ways to add variables to each item in my drop down, but not how to link them to "unhide" specific fields depending on the selection. Is this something I need to code? If so, is it as easy as building a simple logic statement in VB to handle it something like "If x=1; then show=field1" "if x=2; then show=field2", so on a so forth, or is the process more involved? Or am I over thinking it and there is an easier way to set up some rules or something?

    Thanks!

    Adam

    Hi Adam,

    Welcome to InfoPathDev.

Hiding specific fields in InfoPath doesn't need complex coding, in InfoPath 2010, all you need to do is add a formatting rule (under the Home tab, click Manage Rules) to the field or section you wish to hide. Next, add the desired condition for the drop-down list field, then tick the hide this control checkbox at the bottom. Let me know if this helps.

That helped a lot actually, I love the simple solutions. I appreciate it!
