Hi..

Can anyone suggest how to populate the text options from a dropdown box , into a field . where each text is counted as a number. eg: I have form with a table of errors with category of erros . From the dropdown box for each type of error there is a category A,B,C,D,E.

These need to be counted in a consolidated table where there is a row for each category of error. i.e. suppose 2 category A errors should in the consolidated table as 2 in cat A row.

Similarly for the remaining categories and the table will give total no of errors(including all categories).

 I've struggled to follow what it is that you want.

If you want to populate another field based on your drop down selection, you'll need a rule to set the extra text field.

 In a drop down box properties, you can have values (numbers), yet display to the human eye text.  Then you can do your maths.

If you can perhaps post a sample form I might be able to get what it is that you want.

Thanks... Here is the sample form. Fields cat1, cat2 ,.. cat10 will contain the category of the error. The user enters the details of the errors determining a category of the error here. These need to be populated in table on the bottom of the form, which shows description of each category. so no of errors under each category of error will be populated.
