    Basic Infopath

    Hello,

I am a novice at InfoPath and I am trying to figure out how the Infopath fields are mapped to the corresponding form library fields in Sharepoint.  A 3rd party vendor developed the form and we cannot contact them.  There is one field on the InfoPath form that I cannot seem to locate on the library settings or on the backend (SQL).  Yet, when I look at a particular item from the library, the field is filled in.

You can find this under Form Options --> Promoted Properties

IP 2007: Tools > Form Options

IP 2010 & 2013: File page, Info, Form Options

    Thank you Hilary!

I am using InfoPath 2007 and went to hte Form Options --> Property Promotion and saw the fields, but I still have 2 issues:

    1) I still don't see the name of the Sharepoint field for each of the InfoPath fields

    2) I still don't see the field I am looking for

I was thinking maybe I need to look at the XML on the Sharepoint server side, but, again, not sure where to look.

So - I'm confused. :) Are you saying there are columns in your SharePoint library that you think are promoted from the form, but do not show in the promoted properties for the form?

I apologize about the confusion :(

On the InfoPath form, I see a field called, for example, "FieldA", but I don't see it in the promoted properties for the form; nor do I see it in the Sharepoint library settings.  Someone suggested it may be a calculated field, but I can see some items with the "FieldA" filled in and I have looked at the InfoPath properties and they don't suggest a calculated field.

I hope you are willing to bear with me as I try to explain the problem :)

So, when you look at the promoted properties in the form, you can rename the promoted field (so that the name in SharePoint is different from the actual field name). Also, if a form library has multiple content types associated with it, you may have columns from a different content type....
