Error: This form cannot be opened in a Web browser. When opened in sub site

    Hi,

I have a web browser form that I have activated in my main site collection, but want the form to be available in the sub site so would be something like http://myurl/mymainsite/subsite/.

It appears in my main site in the form templates section so if I open from  http://myurl/mymainsite/FormServerTemplates/Forms/All%20Forms.aspx it will open in browser.

However if I try to get it to open in the form templates folder in the subsite I get the url http://sharepoint/itgov/VDM/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/Form%20Templates/Forms/AllItems.aspx and it tries to open in infopath and I get the error "This form cannot be opened in a Web browser. To open this form, use Microsoft InfoPath."

Can anyone tell me should I be allowed to open the form in the sub site?, if so what am I doing wrong please?

     Many thanks.

    Jacqui.

    Hi Jacqui,

If you have activated your form to a site collection, I assume that you published it either as a content type or an admin-approved form template. You can make use of this template by adding the content type to the SharePoint library you wish to open it from.

Please refer to this article for instructions on how to do that: http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-server-help/add-a-content-type-to-a-list-or-library-HA102773271.aspx.

Let us know if you still have issues opening your subsite form in the browser.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Guess I was trying to do something more complicated than necessary, the form is activated to the site /mysite/ but I want to use it in /mysite/mysubsite/.

I was trying to open it in the infopath forms folder in /mysite/mysubsite/ and this is where the error was.

Instead I have created a page in /mysite/mysubsite/ and use the form in a web part in there and it opens okay. I guess that is just the way it works so there isn't really a problem.

    Thanks Mel for replying.

    Jacqui.
