Should ListData.svc be available on Office 365?

Perhaps a bit of a newbie question but I can't seem to connect to list services on an Office 365 (A2) site.

SharePoint Designer 2013. Blank Form.  Setting up the data connection.

REST web service URL is a just a simple case, no parameters.

     http://xxxx.sharepoint.com/Forms/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/validaccts

Where the site is /Forms and the list I'm trying to read is 'validaccts'.  Valid accounts is just a simple custom list.

The data connection wizard throws the error:

we can't connect to "'http://xxx.sharepoint.com/Forms/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/validaccts'. Please make sure you're using the correct web address.

I'm logged in as the site administrator so I should have privs.  Certainly have had no problems so far in designing and saving simple forms.

The url fails in IE as well with a 400 error.

I've discovered that the user profile REST service is disabled in O365 due to Loopback security issues but I haven't read anything about that expanding to all REST services.

    Any suggestions?

     Thanks

     https://xxx.sharepoint.com/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('validaccts')/items()

This worked - or at least got the data connection for me.

Must have been something about syntax.

Getting close but not there yet.

In preview I get an error:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: simplemileage
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
The file is not a valid XML file.

In IE I get a result with the right number of entries but no data.  It doesn't show xml but paints an interesting looking form.

I have a sinking feeling this is related to the loopback issue.  I've opened a case with O365 support.

Well my fears are realized.  It is indeed the loopback restriction.

Anyone have any ideas for alternatives?

I need to be able to use OR statements to filter the data. I'm trying to build a console into a forms database (Mileage claims) and display only those records where the Current User is either the originator, or the supervisor, or the budget holder. So I think that means I have to query all records and then filter them.  That is really going to hammer the server.

So - you are just needing to display the data some place?

We have query fields in SharePoint list or library connections. A little kludgy, but what if you added 3 connections to the list or library. One for querying records where Originator = Current User. One for querying records where Supervisor = Current User. One for .... you get the idea.

Then, a little careful formatting in the view and you can display all of them in repeating controls one after the other so it looks like a single list of records....

Thanks Hilary.  That is probably the best approach.  It will result in three separate queries which will keep the server busy but will limit the returns.  That's a good trade-off since bandwidth is probably the limiting factor in a cloud app.  I won't even try to get fancy with a single list - just call it what it is.  "My Claims", "My Approvals - Supervisor", "My Approvals - Budget Holder".  Too easy.  I've seen examples where sections are collapsible.  I might research that as well.  Just have collapsed banners with the count showing when the form is launched.

It is a shame though that this limitation is in O365. Microsoft really needs to look at this or they are going to have trouble up-selling sharepoint online.

    Thanks again
