    InfoPath to PDF

I am having a problem making PDFs from InfoPath forms I have created.

When I use the print to PDF option, the form is actually printed, not made into a PDF.

When I use the Acrobat option to create a PDF I get an error stating:

"Acrobat could not open "form.xsn' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachement and wasn't correctly decoded).

To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

Hi Brian and welcome to the forums.

What version of InfoPath are you using? And do you have the full version of Acrobat?

    Thanks

    Ted,

I am using InfoPath 2003 and Acrobat Professional 7.

What's interesting is others in my department are able to make the PDF's using the same tools, but I am not.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

    Hi Brian,
I don't think Adobe will load an XSN because it doesn't understand the format. As Ted suggests, my guess is that you may not hav the right Adobe software installed. If you have the version that allows printing to PDF, you should see PDF as an option in the print dropdown that comes up.

    Hi Brian,

It looks like you have the right tools, although I have not tried it with Acrobat Pro 7, only Acrobat 5 (full version). It prints fine. What is strange is that the print command is sending it to the printer rather than the Acrobat distiller. I would try an uninstall/reinstall of Acrobat and see if that fixes it.

    Hope that helps

I have tried the following with no success:

    - Uninstalled and reinstalled InfoPath
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 7 Professional
    - Create test files from scratch in InfoPath

When I attempt to use the print option to create the PDF, the InfoPath file actually goes to my default printer.

If I open Acrobat and attempt to create a PDF I get the error as stated in the beginning of this thread.

What's interesting is I have staff who have the same apps and h/w, and they are able to create PDF's from InfoPath, but for some unknown reason I cannot. The only other option is to await my next re-image and try again. (arghhh!)

Are you using IE7? Since installing this my forms will only print to the default printer. I believe others are having print problems with IE7.

I have tested it with both Firefox and IE7. Must be some kind of glitch in the system.
