Hyperlink to file in local drive

    Hi guys,

I would like to create a hyperlink in Infopath form that refer to file in user local drive.

    In view1.xsl, I've added:

    <a href="C:\test.txt" target="_blank" xd:disableEditing="yes">link to local drive</a>

    <a href="C:/test.txt" target="_blank" xd:disableEditing="yes">link to local drive</a>

    <a href="file:///C:/test.txt" target="_blank" xd:disableEditing="yes">link to local drive</a>

None of them working. It's not even opening a new IE window.

Any suggestion for creating a hyperlink to open file in local drive.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Trimba,
You don't have to manually change the XSL. In the InfoPath Designer you can add a hyperlink control. Unfortunately, due to security issues, you can't open local files directly. Put the same file on a network share and try again. If you have a full trust form you can add code to open the files, but links don't work.

    Hi Patrick,

    Thank you ...

I'll find out how to make form full thrusted.
So I need to add a button and put the code to open the file inside the onclick event right ?

    Hi Trimba,
Yes, I'd try that. It's not ideal, and I don't recommend it as a best practice, but if that works for you, I'm happy. Good luck!

    Patrick.

I was trying to follow your advice. I am still having problem.
I created a file (in share drive w/ full access)
then linked it. I used s:\file.doc. When I tried to access it, it didn't work.

    What am I doing wrong?
