Hello all, I am trying to install DBXL 2.8 on a windows 8 machine. IIS 8 is installed and SQLEXPRESS as well. The installer exits promptly stating that DBXL Server edition could not be installed an I need to restart the installer. In the event log an Application Error code of 1603 can be found. Thank you for your help in advance.

DBXL server edition is not compatible with Windows 8. Do you have a server edition of Windows where you could install the trial?

I do. But for trial and developement purposes I'd prefer to install it on my development machine... Is there a trial version compatible with win 8?

Even on a machine (Win Server 2008 R2) with IIS 8 & MSSQLExpress 2012 installed the install still fails. No log except for in the event view. And I guess that is not very helpful.

Can you describe the failure? (for example, what error message comes up, or what screen it reaches before failing)

The Event Viewer on the server should have a Qdabra log now and perhaps this (or the Application log) have additional information.

I would also recommend checking that the necessary IIS features are installed. I'm attaching a screenshot that shows these on one of our servers.
