How do you generate a printer-friendly InfoPath form (without Filler) in SharePoint 2010

I've designed an Assessment form that is wonderful in every way EXCEPT it won't print a clean copy from SharePoint 2010. My users don't have InfoPath software so IP Filler options are disabled. I 'successfully' created a Printer view in my IP template by clicking a link at the bottom of the IP screen, but I can't make the output work in SharePoint. All I can generate is a print out of the web page with the form tucked into scroll bars, etc. Can anyone give me direction or provide a link where I might find the answer? I'm Googled and Forum-searched out and racing with a deadline. Thank you!

I thought this would get a quick answer! Does the lack of response mean the simple need to print a clean InfoPath form via SharePoint (without Filler capabilities) is an impossibility without 3rd party intervention? I find that amazing but would like to know.

    Hi Julie713 and welcome,

The lack of a quick answer probably means people are shoveling snow or pruning trees or something like that (it's the weekend)...

InfoPath doesn't have good support for pagination when printing. Having said that, printing from a browser form is just printing from the browser. InfoPath is not involved. You could use Word Automation services, but it's probably going to take you some time to figure that out.  Another option would be to use the FormsQuo SendToPDF web service but that would require a Web server install.

So, the easiest solution is to just have the browser print it out and try to make it look prettier by switching to a "print view" before printing. The print view can have page breaks in it.

    Good luck!

Thanks, Patrick. I appreciate the insight and your taking the time to respond on a Sunday evening! Perhaps my problem is that SharePoint isn't switching to "Print view" (that is, I haven't figured out how to make that happen correctly). In any case, it gives me something to go on.

     Hello Patrick,

I also have problems with the print view in SharePoint. I have inserted page breaks into my form (in print view). In the preview all works fine and print like I want. But if I like to print the form out of browser, SharePoint ignores the page breaks. Even If I add two layout-forms in my print view and devide it by a page break.

Do you have any workarround for that issue?

The second questions is about the Word automation: I have enabled this option for the toolbar. But it´s greyed out. And I´m really sure to remeber that msdn told, that it is not available for webforms?!? Could you explain how it works - if it works for webforms?

    Many thanks and kind regards

    Tobias
