Hi guys, I have a situation that I need some assistance with and I will try my best to explain it.
Currently I have an infopath form with custom workflows that completes an approval process. Everything works fine in this regard but I have received a request change to the form and workflow that I cant quite get my head around and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
The current form works like this:
- User submits a form via SharePoint
- The workflow sends notification to the users manager requiring approval
- If approved the form then gets sent to HR to the final sign off
- HR sign off the form and its completed
The change requested throws a variable in the mix now. The users have requested an additional approval step based off what department they are in.
- User submits a form via SharePoint - If user selects department = "Finance"
- The workflow sends notification to the users manager requiring approval
- If approved, the form is required to be sent to the Finance manager for approval
- If approved the form then gets sent to HR to the final sign off
- HR sign off the form and its completed
So for example if a user is part of "Finance" and selects it on the form, then they require an additional approval for that department only. I need this step to come before the final sign off but cant quite figure out how to implement this new change without affecting the previous method.
e.g; if user does not select Finance, complete the 1st approval process, but if they select Finance, kick off the new approval process
Just to give you an indication, each approval step is a new view. Once a user clicks on the button, it changes the views until completed. Here are the rules for the form for each view
- Button rule: If a field is equal to completed, set currentview field value ="x"
- Form load: If currentview field = "x", then switch to view "x"
So that's it really, I hope I've been able to explain it properly without it sounding a bit French! I am sure there is an easy way to do it, but for the life of me I cant get my head around it.
Many thanks
Sanchez
