Infopath 2013 Submitting to a network folder

Hi there, I am having major issues and I am banging my head against a brick wall. I have been tasked with setting up a InfoPath form in which I have done so with no issues.

This is the part I am having real problems with

I want to save the form to a network fold held on our public drive, Basically I want the user to select the submit button and it to be fired off  to a folder on our network

I can see all other options for example email, web services, SharePoint, however nothing as simple as save / submit to network folder

Can anyone help me and save me from an early grave :)

     Regards

    Neil

I believe that alll you should need to do is the following:

    1. Open form in design mode, select File Tab>Publish>Publish to Network Location

    2. In the window that appears, copy the location of your shared folder into the Form template path and file name field.

    3. Give it a name and select next.

    4. In the next window, if users can access the form from the location you've designated, select next.

    5. In the next window select publish.

Your form should now be in the folder you designated. Let me know if this helped.

Using this method, users will have to navigate to the folder and select the form in order to fill it out. How the form is submitted depends on how you set up your submit options. You can set it to have the completed form distributed via email, to a SharePoint server etc. If you want to save it in a network folder, simply select save as.

Hi again thanks for your help I have totally grasped how to enable the users to fill out the form the only issue I am having is saving the form to a network folder The only options I get are sharepoint and a number of other options all I want is to save it too a basic folder on my network no more than that and it doesn't give me that option when setting up the buttons If you can prove me wrong feel free I don't have any experience in info path at all but I really need to get this working I spent a whole day on it yesterday and I am still none the wiser

Relatively new to InfoPath myself but I tried it and had the same results as you. My guess is that the reason that you don't get the option to configure a submit button to send the form back to a network folder is because you just as easily put it in a network folder by doing a "save as." Just my guess though.

The only way I know to do this would be to use code - and that is going to require your form be full trust, I'd think, since code that writes to the file system in InfoPath is only allowed in full trust forms.

You should try qRules - free trial here: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/download/qRulesTrial.aspx

Then you won't have to write custom code - it has a SaveToPath command that could be used for this.

When your trial expires qRules will stop working in your form - so, give it a try, if you like it and it works for you, you can buy it and re-inject your template with the full version, no changes needed. If you aren't a programmer, it is a great way to add code-like features to your forms. We use it on all our internal forms here, rather than writing code for every form. It can save you a ton of time.
