Hi, I have a few RichTextBoxes with properties: Display->Wrap text, Expand to show all text The infopath form renders the list item with its RichTextBoxes with vertical scroll bars instead of expanding the text. I created the form in InfoPath 2013 designer and thought it might be the issue. But opening it in InfoPath designer 2010 and republishing it still had the same problem. The form displays the richtextboxes properly in Chrome, but when opened in IE 10, the styling is off with vertical scroll. The height of the rich text boxes are set to 50px and width to 100%. Is there a way to set the default height to 100% so the behavior is the same across all browsers, especially IE 10? Thanks, Swetha

Howdy - is this a list form or a regular library form? Or are you having the same issue in both? I don't know if I have an IE 10 machine around or if I've got them all on IE 11 at this point, but I can try to repro.

I just tested in IE 11 and can't repro - I'll find an IE 10 machine and see what happens. This is with a library form tho - so let me know if you are using a list form instead.

Okay - found a VM with IE 2010 and my RT box expands as expected...

Thanks Hilary for testing it for me. I figured out the issue to be 'InfoPath commands in Ribbon'. If I disable the ribbon then the RichTextBox in the form view gets a vertical scroll bar overridden by the default height set in the Size(rich text box property-height:50px,width:100%) This inspite of selecting Wrap Text and Expand to show all text in the Scrolling option(Display property). I was able to reproduce this behavior with a sample form with one rich text box in it. Upon enabling the InfoPath ribbon for the form, the rich text box expands to show all text. Not sure if it is a bug?! I am using Office 365 and InfoPath Designer 2013. Thanks again for the quick response!!! You rock! Oh, it is a SP list based IP form.

I am experiencing the same issue as you did with the rich text box not auto expanding in IE.  It works in Chrome, and firefox.  In IE, the table row will expands, but the actual rich text box will not.  It doesn't work for me regardless of what I do with the ribbon.  I am using Office 365, SharePoint 2013, and InfoPath 2013.  In fact, I can't even use the rich text box on this site unless I put IE11 in compatibility mode.  Putting IE11 in compatibility mode doesn't solve the auto height issue on my browser form.

In addition, if I remove the InfoPath form from the list, the rich text field height auto adjust just fine.  But when I place the InfoPath form on there, it does not. 

 Any ideas?  This is extremely frustrating how it works in chrome and firefox.  Why is it that two Microsoft products do not play nice with each other?

 

I have this exact issue as well. Anyone find a solution to this? I have tried AutoFit for both the control and the table that houses the control to no avail. Shockingly I have a control housed with a table a little further down the form that resizes just fine.

And just like that I found a solution to my problem! Under the Rich Text Box properties for the control: click on the "Display" tab, then check "Enable enhanced rich text content such as tables, images, and hyperlinks." This frustratingly fixes the problem, albeit makes the control a little less responsive in the web form. Also be sure to have post-back enable somewhere on the form to "refresh" the size of the table before it is submitted/saved.

And changing the text box to "Enhanced Rich Textbox" gets rid of the ability to highlight the text (specifically when viewing a list item, not when editing it) so you can't copy and paste, which we need It's a very frustrating lose-lose situation that i'd love to find a fix for
