Is this string a constant pattern everytime you receive it? (where xls comes first, then pdf, and so on) if so, then you may make use of the substring functions (substring, substring-before, substring-after). I'm attaching a sample for your reference. Please chek the default values of the fields for the substring functions. Hope this helps.
