    InfoPath Form in SharePoint

I have used several infopath forms with great success in Sharepoint.

I am running into a strange problem on one form I'm working on right now.

Basically, I have a status report form. One of the fields is asking whether a project is Green, Yellow, or Red.

What I want is for this selection to appear in a column in sharepoint, but not as text, as an image.

To do this, I created a column in the form SharePoint library called Status. I used the hyperlink/picture column for this. And yes, I did turn on "display url as image" for that column.. I then created a rule in InfoPath which took the result from my form field, and set another field's value (in this case, set the sharepoint status column field to a url link to a green indicator i want to have displayed). As an example, if you open my form and tel me your project is GREEN, the rule should write "http://www.schooldashboard.org/tths205/images/IndicatorGreen.png" to the status column in SharePoint for that file.

However, no matter what i do, nothing gets written to this column from InfoPath. My hunch is that there is a data connection or something missing to submit that specific field value to sharepoint but I can't figure out how to do that.

I also tried actually hosting the indicator image on my sharepoint server to see if it was being blocked somehow, but that didn't change anything.

    Thanks.

So - you know the value is being set in your form correctly, and you have promoted that field to the library?

    Hi Hilary,

I am still knocking my head on the wall trying to get this to work. Can you point me, or walk me through the way to do both of those things.

I believe i have done that, but I may be mistaken.

Well, first, check under Form Options to see if the field is promoted. Verify you know in the data source what field it is, then under File / Info / Form Options look for the Property Promotion category. Is the field promoted?

Hi Hilary, thank you so much for replying. As to your question, yes the field appears in the property promotion window.

Here are some screenshots of what I have done.

Above is the drop down menu which allows a user to pick Green or Red

Above is my library with the fields showing. Colour is the field from InfoPathwhich has been promoted. Status is the hyperlink/picture field created on the Sharepoint  side, which was integrated into InfoPath by setting up a data connection to receive data so that it found that field.

Here are the settings for my rule.

However, when i test the form and select Green for the Colour, nothing gets sent to the "Status" column as you can see here:

Well - you aren't promoting Status from the form, are you? I mean, you say it is a hyperlink / picture column you created in SharePoint - so it can't be promoted from the form. You need to promote that URL in your form field to a library column, and then you may have to do something on SharePoint to get the actual image to show in your image column (my guess is a content editor web part may help here...)
