Newly added fields appear as disabled on existing forms

I have added two new boolean controls to an Infopath 2003 form and published the form to a Sharepoint form library.  Approximately 200 forms have been created based on the previous template.  The default values for the boolean fields are blank and neither field is required by default.  When creating files using the new template, the new fields are enabled and working.  When opening existing files, the 2 new fields appear on the form, but are disabled.  I have relinked all of the existing files in the library to the new template.  When publishing the form, the form option was set to 'Automatically upgrade existing forms'.  The form has numerous conditional formatting statements and some of the conditions now include these 2 new fields.  I'd appreciate any help you could offer as to how I might get this working or what I could look for.  Thank you.

I had similar problem yesterday with InfoPath 2007. My form is injected with qRules and used qRules SwapDomWithDocument rule.  Solution was to add /updgradedocument=true to that rule.  This problaby won't help you if you are not using qRules but I'd thought I'd throw that out there just in case!

Are the new controls inside a repeating group or section? There are a few places you can check to make sure your new fields are included by default - Tools > Default Values and in the repeating control itself - attach the template to a reply under the Options tab if you'd like me to take a look...
