    drop-down list menu

Im am 'new' to infopath and i am creating a form for our projects at work. What I am trying to do is have 5 items in a drop-down menu and when the user selects an item hidden controls including textboxes, date pickers, radio buttons will appear within the form. These 5 items have different layouts etc. How do I go about this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks, Ali.

Hi Ali and welcome to our forum!
Create 5 different sections that include all of the separate layouts and add conditional visibility to each based on the dropdown.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the warm welcome and reply. Could you recommend a 'How to'? I am sure I have read that you can not add conditional formatting to date pickers. Do I have each and every control within their own section? And are these seperate sections within a repeating section?

    I have found a How to here:http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=95f238a046174e749ae2338545e75867

I think it is related to what I am looking for but not sure!!

    Thanks again,
    Ali.

Oh god! I had it but my boss wishes for me to carry it out with tick boxes instead of a drop-down menu!

Could you guide me here please Patrick?

    Thanks,
    Ali.

    Hello Ali,
You can show hidden controls using check boxes also. For this you will have to keep all the controls in a section and hide this section using conditional formatting when check box value is 'false'

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply, but Im a bit lost now!! I need a step-by-step guide to help me through this I think, do you know roughly where I can find one to fit my criteria? I did mention that I am totally new to Infopath just been using it a couple of days.

Thanks again and sorry to be a pain,

    Ali.

P.S. I have a section hiding in the background but when I click on the appropriate tick box the section will not appear.

    Thanks

    Hello Ali,
Follow these steps to hide section untill check box (tick box) is checked:
    1. First of all insert one check box (tick box) "Field 1" into InfoPath form.
    2. Insert a section "Section 1" and place all the controls you would like to show when check box (tick box) "Field 1" is checked.
    3. Now double click the section "Section 1"
    4. Go to Display tab in Section Properties window
    5. Click on "Conditional Formatting" button in Display tab
    6. Click on "Add" button in Conditional Formatting window
    7. Select Check box field "Field 1" from first drop down, 'isequalto' from second drop down, "FALSE" from thrid drop down
    8. Check "hide this control" check box and click on "ok" button 3 times
Now Preview the form section "Section 1" is not displayed. Check check box "Field 1", result is Section 1 is displayed

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Shailaja

Thanks for your reply but this was exactly what I was doing!! It was not working due to the tick box not being bound properly (I think) but when I fixed this it worked.

    Thanks again!

    Ali.
